Having received the book list for this year, I see that the older years weren't joking about the workload for NEWTs. I mean, I knew it was heavy, but I didn't want to believe it.

There must be some mistake. How could FINNIGAN get an invite to the Slug Club? He's a complete idiot!

Well the sentencing is over and actually it's a great relief to know what I'm required to do. I feel like I can start to move forward.

For those who might think the sentence is too light or whatever, take it up with the courts. I said my piece at my trial, I admitted my errors and apologise for them, either you believe me or you don't. That is all.

Heathcote has been humming around the house all day, he and the Sisters are writing some new music. I think they're aiming to put on a charity concert this Christmas hols. It's good to see him being enthusiastic about music again. The other plus is that he's too distracted to check I'm studying so I could escape to sunbathe on the balcony.

I still can't believe that Susan Bones of all people is in league with the DA! Padma Patil does make sense (although I'm still surprised), considering her twin sister is part of it, but really... I thought Susan was sensible. Watching them... question her at dinner last night was awful

Still, aside from that it's been a good weekend. Slug Club was very interesting, and I had a long talk with Mr Selwyn about his work, and Ms Goshawk about her books. The Department of Mysteries would be a fascinating place to work!

Congratulations on your win in the duel, Astoria! Professor Carrow seemed very pleased with the celebrations for his birthday.

Herbology was disgusting yesterday. Thankfully I ducked out of the way in time when those stupid plants started spitting out... excrement. Some people weren't so fortunate though.

Congratulations on your new badge, Mr Cornfoot, Ravenclaw should be proud to have such an upstanding prefect. I really don't understand why people seem to be so shocked about what happened. Goldstein was a prefect, he knew the rules and therefore should have been honest about his background and avoided the punishment.

I hope that little boy is all right. Must be awful to be uprooted and whisked away without warning. It's not his fault his parents lied to everyone.

FINALLY Madame Pomfrey got my hands back to normal. That was so awful! I'm sure the ones who put the fliers up are Dumbledore's Army, since they've already shown no qualms by using dangerous hexes on people who are simply trying to make sure the school runs by the rules.

It's rather scary to realise that OWLs are less than six months away. I feel quite confident in Transfiguration and Potions, but I'll definitely have to do some extra study on History of Magic. If only we had a professor who wasn't sending us all to sleep nine times out of ten!

While I'm relieved that the murderer was caught, it's a tragedy that Morag and Blair's parents were killed! That Towler person is obviously quite a monster to do what he did and if there are other muggleborns like that then it's no wonder the Ministry is locking them up to keep us safe.

My condolences to the MacDougal family.
